About the Abolition Project
The Abolition Project is a non-profit think-and-do tank that uses the power of STORYTELLING, participatory action research, and systems thinking to combat forms of modern-day slavery.
By centering those most vulnerable to forms of captivity—Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) women and girls—we advance strategies for deconstructing the prison industrial complex, divesting from human captivity, and investing in impacted communities.
Our projects use PARTICIPATORY METHODS to:
-
combat modern-day slavery through visual storytelling
-
develop captivating multimedia content to raise awareness
-
utilize digital platforms to reach diverse audiences
We use SYSTEMS THINKING to advance abolition by:
-
analyzing the interconnected nature of modern-day slavery
-
identifying leverage points for systemic transformation
-
developing comprehensive strategies for lasting change
